This one came out to be in the world of my book, so high chances you're looking at a proto-scene from the book!

Create a scene where dialogue is the primary tool for revealing character depth (~ 100 words).
Approach: Choose a character and craft a dialogue that showcases their personality, beliefs, or current emotional state. The dialogue should give insights into who they are without explicitly stating it.

Seth lies on the floor and puts his ear to the ground.
"What is it?" Claire asks.
"Shh," Seth cuts in.
A few seconds pass. Seth frowns as if he has retrieved some unpleasant news from listening to the floor, then stands up.
"We can't stay here for long, that's for sure," he sighs.
"Excuse me?" Claire is surprised.
"I heard them; they don't sound content. It could've been a fluctuation, but it's not, so we're doomed. Me got to go; you should as well." His speech is abrupt again as his eyes start scanning the room, not looking at Claire anymore.
Claire is transfixed, her eyes wide as saucers.
"Wait a second, partner! What in the world do you even mean, huh? Dare to detail, maybe?" she finally says.
"I've already said everything important. What didn't you understand? We need to grab the corporate equipment that's assigned to us, at least. Let's start with those obsolete monitors; there must be a box to fit them in..."
"You said nothing and started acting like I can read your thoughts, wacko! I'm not a psychic, duh!"
"God, you piss me off, Claire. Again, I explained everything already: they're angry, so we're in real danger this time. We should go, period. What else should we grab? The cables are disposable, the microwave and those tablets are too, aha..."
"Seth Petrik, stop it immediately! I'm in charge here, so I fucking order you to stop fidgeting and explain your motives, you son of a..!" she almost finishes the phrase but cuts herself off abruptly.
Seth stops, indeed, and looks at her closely.
"Ain't no rest for the wicked, Claire. Thoughts included."
