Someday, someday I’ll finally finish this wonderful little book, and there’ll be a review... I swear.
I was lucky enough to get into an underground book club where we read all sorts of things I either wouldn’t have reached for myself or wouldn’t have discovered at all. Everyone else finished and discussed Kleinzeit months ago; I only returned to it last week, continuing from where I dropped it sometime in the summer.
Amazing book. Every time I happily sit down for some slow reading, the same thing happens: the first page goes down smoothly; on the second, I start stumbling a little over the poetically weird prose and rereading certain lines; by page three, I realize my brain is shutting down and I’m falling asleep.
That’s what makes a book club so good: I’m moving through something unfamiliar, something outside my bubble. Fighting my own brain, building new neural pathways, finding new emotional registers in myself.
