Katana Zero (2019)
A talented knockoff—an oxymoron nobody asked for. I was rolling my eyes until I rage-dropped it in the final third. Worse than Hotline Miami in every way, though it gets a karma point for delivering the story in a less arthousey manner than Hotline did.
Harold Halibut (2024)
A soul-warming game, like an old lightbulb glowing right in your face. Only problem? Every. Damn. Thing. Crawls. So. Slow. Feels like classic Syberia and other 25-year-old adventure games. If your patience for frustration is higher than mine—strong recommend.
Anna’s Obsession (2025)
Far Cry’s golden rule: something must happen every 5 seconds to keep you entertained. Max Berman’s debut novel sticks to that, and it worked—I read to the end. But the writing is so cloyingly cliché it made me want to wash my face with bleach. Hoping future books aim above the fanfic tier.
Chasing Static (2021)
Starts off like a clean-cut little horror game, but after 40 minutes the tension fades, replaced by moody wandering. Not annoying enough to hate, but leaves zero aftertaste.
